Yep, that’s two weeks. Just a photo today. Like sister, like brother.

Up until a month or so ago, you couldn’t turn around without reading, hearing, or seeing something related to the recent election, and even today it’s still a hot topic. But how about a tidbit from election history from The History Channel?

On this day in history - December 10, 1869 - women were granted the right to vote in Wyoming. You might be saying, “Go Wyoming! Way to be on the forefront of women’s rights!” But then you might think something about ends and means and at least we have the right to vote. With a 6-to-1 ratio of men to women, some lonely men thought that if they gave women the right to vote, more women would move to Wyoming. They were probably right. So, more Wyoming men were warm at night, and women were granted the right to vote. Win-win?

Okay, mom. Just about done stringing the lights here.

And yep, Lila will get her day in the, uh, snow before long.

Have you ever planned a trip to Walt Disney World? We’re headed there in January, and there’s so much to consider! We’ll only have two full days at Disney, so we certainly can’t do everything, but what to do? What to skip? Where to dine? We’ve settled where to stay, at least - Port Orleans French Quarter Resort.

We haven’t been to Disney World since our honeymoon in 1996, and I was to inexperienced at travel then to do any planning, so it’s almost like starting from scratch more than twelve years later. We’re certainly going to spend the better part of our first day at Magic Kingdom, but how long will it take? How much time might we have for another park in the evening? Day two will begin at Animal Kingdom (which didn’t even exist when we were last in town), but the same questions apply. Would we want to head to Epcot both days after our first park? Or Hollywood Studios one day and Epcot the next? What if we make lunch or dinner reservations then decide we want to be somewhere else at that time? What if we don’t make reservations and are stuck with cheeseburgers and chicken nuggets from a food cart for every meal?

Truly, the planning is a huge part of the fun, but I swear that planning two days in Disney World is way harder than planning an entire week in Paris. Got any tips? We’re wide open to suggestions.

We had the very fine pleasure today of going to the University of Michigan Marching Band’s Crisler Concert (so named because it takes place at Crisler Arena). Picture a 300+ member band in a basketball arena, then plug your ears.

The entire band is amazing to watch (and I don’t just say that because Tim & I marched in the trumpet ranks for three years, or because that’s where we met), but if any kid ever thought they wanted to play drums, there’s nothing like the Michigan Drum Line to encourage that dream.

I couldn’t find a great, high-quality video, but this is still incredible to watch. At the concert this afternoon, when the drumline performed this number, the kid behind us (maybe 5 years old) said, “I’m going to play those drums with all the drums in a row because they get to move around so much, and they’re going to play that song when I’m that old. They’re going to play it forever.” And why not? It will be fun to watch forever.
